About

DSCN4078Hi! my name is Richard and at a young age I had the desire and passion to cook. On my 16th birthday I started work (part time) in a real kitchen at the Bounty Restaurant. I left after 2 years and went into fast food, college wasn’t working out and a management position came open. I enjoyed the rush but after 5 years the 70+ hour workweeks killed that. Off to another career and then another. Lost the desire but not the passion for cooking.

For the last several years I have been a full time dad with a full time job and 3 children. My cooking has evolved from frozen pizzas (hence the name Digiorno dad) back to my passion for cooking real food. I am writing this blog to try and inspire people to cook and to preserve some of my heritage. I’m stepping out of my comfort zone and if I can do it you can do it! Yes I have a frozen pizza in the fridge for back up.

Words:

  • “You cannot change the past, but the past can change you. The past can be a rudder that guides you, or an anchor that hinders you. Leave your past mistakes with God, and look to your future by faith”
  • A recipe that is not shared with others will soon be forgotten but when it’s shared, it will be enjoyed by future generations.
  • Happiness is like potato salad – when you share it with others, it’s a picnic.

*This site is dedicated in loving memory to my brother Alex (9/17/66 – 9/26/12).  If you are at the point where you feel you cant go on and are having suicidal thoughts please contact the Suicide Hotline. They don’t contact the police and help is available.

There is hope for the hopeless, his name is “Jesus”, he loves you no matter what you’ve done or has been done to you. If your struggling Just keep saying “I trust you Jesus” over and over. It’s pulled me out of the pit of hell many times.
